Do you have a position on the value of labeling emotions?
I personally don’t subscribe to the labelling of negative emotions. I think all you’re doing is constructing yet another concept to make you feel displeasure.
Imagine you are experiencing a negative feeling and you call it “loneliness”. You’ve just constructed a concept based on your definition, context and past experiences of loneliness. The realization of that concept generates more negative feelings...potentially resulting in a recursive construction of negative emotion constructs ad infinitum.
If said negative emotion is simply identified as “affect”, you are now presented with a wider set of options to alleviate.
